MARCH nominated for 3 Eisner Awards!

I'm honored to find that March: Book One, my collaboration with John Lewis and Andrew Aydin, has been nominated for three Eisner Awards: Best Reality-Based Work, Best Publication For Teens, and Best Penciller/Inker!

This year's list has a really solid line-up of nominees-- congratulations to all my other comics homies including Cecil Castellucci, Becky Cloonan, Jeff Lemire, Scott Snyder, Jeffrey Brown, Ed Piskor, Zander Cannon, Faith Erin Hicks, Luke Pearson, Gene Yang, Paul Pope, Sheila Keenan, Nathan Fox, Ben Katchor, Jeff Smith, Judith Vanistendael, and lots more! The winners will be announced at a ceremony this July at Comic-Con International in San Diego.

The complete list can be viewed here.

My top 5 (or 6) comics of 2012 on BoingBoing!

Brian Heater's Best Damn Comics Of The Year list is up now at BoingBoing, and my picks (books by Gabriella Giandelli, Katie Skelly, Brandon Graham, Farel Dalrymple, Jesse Jacobs, and Jeff Lemire) are up there with plenty of other folks. Also, I should've really included White Clay by Thomas Herpich-- pick it up at all costs!

In Stumptown Highlights via the Portland Mercury!

Headed to Portland later today-- in the meantime, Jeff Lemire and I were both featured in this "Stumptown Highlights" article from the Portland Mercury. I'll be at table A7, and also be sure to check out Top Shelf, Farel Dalrymple, Mike Allred, Theo Ellsworth, Nicole Georges, Joseph Lambert, Emi Lenox, Tugboat Press, Tom Neely, Sara Varon, Angie Wang, and tons more talented cartoonists while you're there.

See you this weekend!

Stumptown Comics Fest in Portland this weekend!

If you're in the Pacific Northwest, I'll see you at Portland's own Stumptown Comics Fest this weekend (April 28-29). It's at the Oregon Convention Center (Saturday 10-6, Sunday 12-6). I'll be holding down the fort at Table A7, selling books and original artwork.

On Saturday from 12-12:45 pm, come to a panel discussion in Room B114 with Jeff Lemire and me, and hear what's new and upcoming with each of our works (including our imminent collaboration on Sweet Tooth #34, out in early June!).

SWEET TOOTH #34 cover!

Here's the cover to Sweet Tooth #34, which is a collaboration between Jeff Lemire and me entitled "The Ballad Of Johnny And Abbot". Vertigo just solicited the issue to be released in early June.

I'm finished with the interior inks, and am halfway through the coloring process. Challenging and a bit nerve-wracking to color directly on the inks with permanent acrylic dyes, but so much fun.

Work-in-progress on SWEET TOOTH #34..

Here's a cross-section of panels from Sweet Tooth #34, for which I'm handling art and colorist duties. This shows each step along the way, from thumbnails to finished colors.

Should be out in the summer from Vertigo!
